Bud's Auto Service

By Dan Waite

Note the business card for Bud's Auto Service. It was a Burbank landmark for decades on the corner of Grismer and San Fernando Rd. My Dad worked there from approximately 1959-1969 as a line mechanic. That is him pictured on the front in the black suit and derby hat. Bud is the man in the gray suit pumping up the tire. Bud Mounsey opened the shop sometime in the late 40's and ran it until leasing it out sometime in the late 1980's.

The car is a 1914 Ford Model T that my Dad built for Bud in 1964. The picture was taken in 1965 and Bud liked it so much he used it for his business cards. Everyone always thought that it was Bud in the black suit, and one time a man painted an oil painting for Bud as a gift, leaving out the man in the gray suit! There is another shop there now, one that works on foreign cars, a tire shop and a cigar shop...but they still have a painting of the Model T on the outside of the building (see image below)...
