My Favorite Things (Civil War reenacting version)

by Tom Kindred

Frock Coats and Sack Coats and shirts of white linen
Ball Gowns and Camp Drtesses worn by our women
Bundles of Cartridges tied up with string...
These are a few of my favorite things!

Stacks of bright springfields with bayonets shining
Single bag Knapsacks with pillow-tick lining
Long summer marches and songs that we sing....
These are a few of my favorite things!

When the rain comes, and we're washed out, and we're soaking wet
I turn to my pard and I smile and I say...
It's about as authentic as it gets!

Privates and Corporals and Sergeants all mingling
Horse drawn Artillery with trace-chains a jingling
Drunken Confederates who feel they must sing....
These are a few of my Favorite things!

Wool socks and brogans and feet that are swelling
Sun-Heated port-a-johns full up and smelling
Blustering gold straps who don't know a thing....
These are a few of my Favorite things!

When the Rain comes, and we're washed out, and we're soaking wet
I turn to my pard and I smile and I say...
It's about as authentic as it gets!
